Well-established food manufacturer is seeking an experienced Packaging Buyer. The Packaging Buyer will be responsible for managing this commodity and ensures that orders are placed in a timely manner to support production schedules.
Responsibilities:
Performs analysis and generates purchase orders for packaging components, including review of MRP system reports, production plans and sales forecasts
Identifies and develops relationships with suppliers for Packaging Components
Negotiates with suppliers and provides analysis of supplier quotations to determine primary and secondary suppliers
Works closely with production/packaging to resolve any issues with suppliers, including expediting orders for materials as needed
Performs analysis of supplier performance
Provides reports pertaining to management pertaining to inventory levels, etc
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree preferred, may consider relevant experience in lieu of degree
Experience in Purchasing Food Packaging Components or experience in Food Packaging Design
Food industry experience strongly preferred
Experience with MRP systems needed
Proven track record of cost savings
Excellent organizational and communication skills
